Goble Burger

(makes four)

Christine Goble won the The Most Freakin Amazing Burger contest on August 16th, 2012!

Winning Tip:  Use L’Aspromontano Olive Oil and Il Bordeaux – Aged Balsamic vinegar

Cooking Tip:  Watch your burger and do not over cook.  Grill on Medium heat and try to flip once, if you must flip, try not to flip too many times.  Resist the urge to push your burgers down, this does not make them cook faster it will only dry them out by removing the juices.  Flip rule of thumb is when the burger starts to brown half way up.

  • 1 lb Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 splashes of worcheshire
  • 1 pkg Roasted Garlic Lipton Onion Soup Mix
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil (to rub on burger)

Mix first five of the burger ingredients and divide into four equal portions for even cooking time. Once burgers are formed rub both sides with Olive Oil and sprinkle with some fresh ground pepper.

Topping (Caramelized Red Onions and Hot Peppers)

  • Sliced pickled hot peppers
  • Red Onions sliced
  • 4 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil (may require a little more once it starts to caramelized)
  • Dash of Sea Salt
  • Dash of Ground Black Pepper

Mix all topping ingredients and put into a heavy duty foil boat (open pouch) and place on bbq and caramelize before cooking burger.  Stirring around often and adding more olive oil if needed.

Toast your whole wheat sandwich bun by mixing some Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic vinegar in a bowl and brush both sides of the buns, then toast.

Additional Finishing Toppers

  • Slice of old cheddar cheese melted on burger
  • 2 slices of Jalapeno Pepper Dill Pickles (or regular)
  • Lettuce
  • Gourmet Hot Pepper Relish
  • Yellow Mustard
  • Ketchup
