Region: Mendoza
Monocultivar: Arauco
This variety was introduced 500 years ago to the coast of Peru and later to Chile and Argentina, where it is cultivated throughout the country, particularly in the region of Cuyo. Today it is considered native to the region since it is unknown in the Mediterranean. This variety has been selected over time for its great adaptation and qualitative potential. Mendoza has the largest cultivated surface area of Arauco trees, which, due to its characteristics, is the emblematic variety of Argentine olive growing.
The Zuccardi family has been passionately producing high quality products since 1963. They received the Frontier Farm award from Flos Olei in 2020 in recognition of the most dynamic and innovative producer in terms of quality outside the Mediterranean basin.
Intensity:
Tasting Notes: Complex and intense fruity. Bitter and spicy between medium and medium high, depending on its point of maturity.
Ideal Pairings: Bruschetta, pizza, grilled meat, fish, vegetable soups, vegetables, fresh cheese like burrata, mozzarella, ricotta
Size: 500ml
FAMILIA ZUCCARDI
The beginnings of the Zuccardi Family Varietal Oils project were founded on the firm vocation of Miguel Zuccardi to develop the qualitative potential of the region, launching the first harvest in 2004. Reaffirming the innovative spirit, this line of Premium extra virgin olive oils today brings together four of the oldest Mendoza varieties, including the local Arauco variety, present in America for almost 500 years.
Committed to the development of the region, the Zuccardi Family was founded by Engineer Alberto Zuccardi in 1963. In a desert region like Mendoza, agriculture is only possible under irrigation, so Alberto Zuccardi sought to perfect a system created by himself. In that search, he discovered his passion for viticulture. Continuing this path and providing a dynamic and innovative mark, his son Jose Alberto began to lead the growth and development that allowed the consolidation and growth of the company towards the most demanding markets. Today, the third generation integrated through the vocation of the different members of the family and work teams, the Zuccardi Family continues that commitment, tracing a path of common values that allow us to continue showing the unique qualities that Mendoza has.
